Graduated from St. Clair College (Windsor) dental hygiene program in 1997. Brenda worked for Dr. Mathany's dental office for 15 years until her mobile business required her full time.
Over the course of her career, Brenda has been involved on a provincial level (Ambassador for the ODHA-Ontario Dental Hygienists Association), as well as a local level (President of the SLDHS-Sarnia Lambton Dental Hygienists Society). Brenda provides oral health education to ECE (Early Childhood Education) and PSW (Personal Support Worker) students at Lambton College. Brenda educates the staff at the LTC homes to ensure they are knowledgeable in the oral health needs of the residents.
The legislation changed in 2007 allowing dental hygienists to work independently, without a dentist. Brenda started her mobile practice to help clients who could not access dental hygiene care in the traditional dental office settings. She watched family members' oral health deteriorate while in long term care homes and wanted to make a difference.
In 2008, Brenda started providing mobile dental hygiene services to clients in long term care homes and group homes. In 2014 she started offering dental hygiene care to clients at Bluewater Health on the Continuing Care and Palliative units.
Mobile services are provided in the following facilities:
Bluewater Health (Norman and CEEH)
Marshall Gowland Manor
Lambton Meadowview Villa
North Lambton Lodge
Afton Park Place
Trillium Villa Nursing Home
Twin Lakes Terrace
Vision Nursing Home
Fiddick's Nursing Home
Watford Quality Care Centre
Chatham-Kent Community Health Centre Walpole Island Site
Brenda feels blessed to have the opportunity to assist clients with their oral care needs and to listen to the amazing stories they share with her. The relationships she has developed with her clients and families make her work rewarding.
In April 2018 the business expanded and began treating clients on-site at the DENTAL HYGIENE & WELLNESS CLINIC (No-Frills Plaza). On-site services include but are not exclusive to cleanings, whitening treatments, sports guards, and oral health education.
In June 2018, Brenda began offering dental hygiene care to residents at the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centre Walpole Island Site.
